We’re proud to announce that StreetVet is now firmly established in Cornwall and has done much to help the homeless community and their pets since coming to Cornwall in October 2018.
Our service is in such demand here, that we now operate regular outreach sessions in 5 locations: Penzance, Redruth, Truro, Newquay and St Austell. We work with local government associations and homeless charity partners such as soup kitchens, day centres, night shelters, temporary housing and homeless hostels at each location. We are also looking to introduce “walkabouts” to try and build relationships with those who may not have the confidence or ability to seek our help in the outreach centres.
Our Cornwall lead, Ros and her 12 committee members have recruited a loyal team of 20 vets and vet nurses who volunteer their time and skills each month to support our 5 outreach locations.
We would also like to thank all the veterinary practices who have supported us across Cornwall, donating procedures pro bono or discounting services. Redruth Veterinary Surgery, Lamorna (Camborne), Rosevean (Penzance), Regents Court (Penzance), Rosemullion (Falmouth), Vets4Pets (Truro, St Austell, Camborne, Falmouth), Kernow Veterinary Group, Clifton Villa, Cornwall Animal Hospital (Redruth), CVETS (Emergency service, Truro) and Hayle Veterinary Surgery.
We have been overwhelmed by the generosity shown by local businesses. We would like to thank The Last Chance Hotel for offering free accessible fostering to any dogs in need, Grippy Leads for their donation of numerous collars and leads, The Dog House Helston for loads of great products including coats, leads, harnesses, collars, toothpaste, toys and food. The Cornish Dog, Hattie and her dog Woody, for offering free professional photography and publicity through their blog and a massive thank you to Sally Meredith at Freckles Pet Goodies Launceston for her continued support and generous donations.
