‘My name is Jayne and from a young age I loved all animals, growing up on a farm cultured this love even more. I have worked as a nursing assistant and then a Registered Veterinary Nurse for over 20 years now and I love the fact that I can be involved in such an exciting project such as StreetVet to help those in need in Birmingham.’
- SuzanneSuzanneMy name is Suzanne Wildman and I am a RVN and have been qualified for over 25 years. I no longer work in veterinary practice but am in the privileged position of teaching the next generation of veterinary nurses at a local college. Following on from the success of StreetVet in London, I contacted Jade to ask about the possibility of setting up in Birmingham. Since first hearing about StreetVet I have encouraged my students to fund raise for this amazing charity.
Hi my name is Danielle Rogers. I am a registered veterinary nurse working in a small independent practice and have been nursing for 24 years. I have worked in a range of practices, 2 of which are charities. I am a crazy cat lady at heart and one of my most rewarding experiences is hand rearing orphan kittens. As soon as I heard about StreetVet starting in Birmingham I knew it was for me. I signed up in time for the launch in June 2018 and have been a regular volunteer for outreaches and hostel visits. I feel privileged to be able to help provide vital care to animals whose owners find themselves in difficult times. They are some of the most cherished and adored animals I have ever had the pleasure to meet.
My name is Gemma. I have worked in veterinary practice for over 16 years, qualifying as a veterinary nurse was the best day of my life. I love animals and always wanted to work with them. I enjoy chatting to clients too and when I saw a social media post about an organisation called
StreetVet I was hooked and I had to join. I love the fact that I can get involved in this project and help both homeless people and their pets. It is such a worthy charity.
Hi, my name is Rachel, I am a small animal vet working in a veterinary hospital in Wolverhampton. StreetVet does amazing work across the country keeping people's much loved companions happy and healthy - it is a privilege to be part of the Birmingham team helping provide this care.
Hi, my name is Megan and I have been volunteering for Birmingham StreetVet since I qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in 2018. I have always loved animals from a young age but Dogs are my favourite. I love volunteering for StreetVet and being able to provide a service that makes a difference.
Hello! I’m Rachael, one of the Birmingham team. I qualified from Glasgow Vet school in 1994 and since then have worked in a variety of practices including over ten years in charity practice. I love being a vet and enjoy volunteering and putting my skills to good use. Until StreetVet, all my volunteering had been abroad. It is amazing that I can now volunteer locally in Birmingham and be part of an essential organisation that helps keep these animals safe and healthy. They are such an important lifeline for their owners.
Sarah has been a vet since 2000 and has worked in a variety of jobs including small animal, mixed, wildlife and zoo work. She is now freelance which gave her the opportunity to join the Birmingham team in November 2018. She loves the ability to provide free veterinary care to such valuable animals and their humans.
My name is Frances. As a little girl I grew up surrounded by lots of animals and as long as I can remember I always wanted to be a vet and I still feel very lucky that I have managed to realise my dream. I am originally from Holland but I have been working in the UK since I qualified 20 years ago. I work in a small animal practice in the West Midlands and thoroughly enjoy being a general practitioner and I have a special interest in dentistry. I have done charity work in the past and was very keen to join StreetVet when they launched in Birmingham. It’s so rewarding getting to know the pets and their owners and witnessing the strong and special bond between them and being able to provide veterinary care for them through this amazing charity.
I qualified as a veterinary surgeon in 1989 and have over thirty years experience in small animal practice. I am a Director of a veterinary practice in Worcestershire and have volunteered for Street Vet since 2018.
I've been working in general practice for almost 30 years. I saw StreetVet when it 1st started and immediately felt I wanted to help. Volunteering at the Birmingham site has been one of the most rewarding things I've done.
It's hands on, where VNs and VSs can really make a positive difference to people's lives.
I qualified from the University of Nottingham in 2014 and have worked in small animal practice ever since. I am currently working towards a Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice.
I started volunteering for StreetVet last year, and it's been a fantastic experience, allowing me to meet lots of lovely animals and people alike!
I spend most of my spare time with my own animals; Korky the horse, Jarvis the dog and Albert the cat.
