StreetVet Reading was set up and started providing outreaches in July 2019. From a solo venture by Isabel, our team lead, we have grown to a team of around 12 regular vet and nurse volunteers.
We currently run a weekly outreach at St Mary’s Church in Reading town centre. We work alongside FAITH Christian group who run a food handout at the same time. We hope in the future, we can work alongside local hostels to provide outreaches there also.
Our patient numbers have grown each week and we currently have 16 dogs registered who we regularly see.
StreetVet Reading has support from local veterinary practices such as the ActiveVetCare group and local RSPCA branch who help to provide emergency veterinary care and neutering financial support.
We have been amazed by the generosity of donations provided by the public. We hope we can continue to grown and provide veterinary care to the homeless community of Reading.
