Emily Harris Street Nurse Cambridge

My first outreach as a Street Vet Volunteer Nurse: At 7pm in Market Square, Cambridge, I met Carola, a volunteer Nurse and Sarah, a volunteer Vet. We joined up with the team from ‘Caring for Cambridge’s Homeless’ (CCH) who already know some of the local dogs in the area. We met the lovely Benji who enjoyed a fuss. We walked around the city centre, visited 2 shelters and met 5 dogs which Sarah examined and provided treatment.
Initially some people were not sure why we were there or if to trust us, maybe they thought we were in there to take their companion away. Once we showed we were there just to help their beloved friend by providing free health care, food, collars and leads they opened up and were extremely grateful. (The dogs were also grateful for the treats).
